From the Frontline: A Powerful Story of Hope from Ella's

The Charles Plater Trust is proud to support the vital work of Ella’s, a London-based charity that provides urgent and long-term support for women surviving trafficking and sexual exploitation. Their mission is to ensure that survivors have everything they need to recover and build lives that are safe and free.

We recently received a moving update from the team at Ella’s, which includes the story of Laura, a survivor who is reclaiming her future. We wanted to share their message and video with our community:

Season's greetings from Ella's

Dear Phil and all the team,

On behalf of everyone at Ella’s, I’d like to wish you a wonderful Christmas and sincerely thank you for your support throughout this year.

Laura is one of the survivors we’ve worked with this year. Growing up, she had big plans to build a family and live a normal life. An abusive situation with an ex-partner who trafficked and exploited her, altered her course.

Today, after completing a course in language interpretation with excellent marks she is working as a translator and rebuilding her life.

‘I feel stronger. I've made new friends. I never thought that I would make new friends. It's really hard to trust people. I have a purpose in life. It's still hard sometimes, some days, but I found a piece of myself that I was looking for so long.’

Follow this link to watch Laura tell her story.

Thank you for all you do to be part of our work with women like Laura who have survived trafficking, exploitation and other forms of violence.

Happy Christmas and we look forward to working together in 2026,

With our best wishes from the team and survivors at Ella's,

Emma Scott
