Our first online learning seminar!

Responding to the request of our charity partners for non-monetary support, we are delighted to share that the Charles Plater Trust will host its first online learning seminar on Tuesday 22nd July from 10.30 am – 12 pm.

In the light of Pope Francis' legacy, and in view of the election of a new missionary focused Pope committed to a renewal of Catholic Social Teaching (CST), this seminar will focus on CST for Beginners and will be an opportunity to explore the values that drive our social justice practices – namely, hope for those in need!

Whether you are or have been one of CPT’s charity partners or simply want to learn more about CST - this short seminar is for you. It is open to faith-based and non-faith-based charities and personnel alike, because CST is addressed to people of all good will.

The seminar will be led by Raymond Friel from Caritas Social Action Network (CSAN). Raymond has spent most of his professional life in Catholic secondary education in the state sector including roles as Headteacher, General Secretary of the Catholic Independent Schools Conference, and CEO of two multi academy trusts. He has written a number of books on education and Catholic life including The Revolution of Tenderness: How to be a Catholic in Today’s Church and At Your Side, a book of original prayers with David Wells. His latest title, Catholic Social Teaching: An Introduction for Schools, Parishes & Charities, was published in August 2023. Raymond was awarded the OBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours 2022, for services to education.

We are delighted to have Raymond join us. There will also be input from the CPT team.
